How to "Packwack"

by Spleen

This same scene has been replayed a million times in my UO career, and it never stops being funny. I got a by-the-books packkill the other day, so I'll share it with you. "Packwack" means to wack a pack animal. Riding horses count, and are sometimes referred to as packwacks, but we usually just call em "horsekills"

Ingredients

Dickhead (Me, pictured on left)

Newbie Miner (NAMZ, pictured far right)

Newbie Miners precious pack animal, that he is willing to defend with his life. (Creatively named "NAMS", Pictured second from right)

Step 1 : Find a tasty newbie, with a pack in tow. (or a miner on a riding horse, they have to dismount to mine)

When you spot something like this, you KNOW hes footing it to the mines, and will be out of guarded territory in a matter of seconds. Just kick back, walk as fast as he does, and stay on the edge of the screen. Or if youre serious (or well known for packwacking), like I am, track them, and stay clear offscreen.

Step 2 : Once they are a screen or so out of guards, or at their destination, (let them get as far from guards as you think they are going to go) equip your weakest weapon, known by us professionals as a "packstick" and start tearing into the animal, doing little or no damage. The important thing here, is not to use a good weap. If you down his pack in 2 swings, or a flamestrike, you think hes going to attack you? doubtful (but it happens! Wheezl usually skips the middle man and flamestrikes the animal first chance he gets!) When the newbie notices youre doing NO damage to his coveted animal, he will equip his weap, and, as we professionals say "GET TUFF".

Step 3 : The only important thing to remember here, is, once you get the attack, (HIM attacking YOU) you throw on your real weap, or start casting your spells, and take the targets as they come. If there are a couple newbies around, dont get mean until youve got all of them attacking you. Its more kills, and more fun. I usually down the animal first, since its the primary objective, then proceed to tag the owner, followed by any tough onlookers that jump in to help. I was feeling nutty this time, and he was trying to run as soon as I equipped my quarterstaff, so I rolled the owner first.

Step 4 : Laugh.
